Synopsis

Center of Excellence on Petrochemical and Materials Technology (PETROMAT) is a consortium of eight departments/colleges from four universities in Thailand. With the support from the Office of Higher Education Commission, Ministry of Education, PETROMAT’s roles are to support human resource development in academic sector and to link academic research to industry. Over the course of almost twenty years from its inception, PETROMAT has evolved from the unit that only supported its partners’ graduate programs and research to be a ‘one-stop’ solution provider in the related fields for both industry and public sectors. A brief history and rationale on how and why PETROMAT was set up will be discussed. Then, its four research programs along with its role as a link between academic and industry will be explained. Last, our research interest in hydrogen and natural gas storage will be introduced.
